Supernatural action roguelike game
Gregory Horror Show: Soul of Roses is a premium action game from developer Unframe. It is a 2D side-scrolling roguelike adventure featuring supernatural themes. Players are thrust into a battle between the souls of the deceased and zombies as they fight to help restore peace and recover their lost memories.
Similar to games like Cult of the Lamb or Hades II, Gregory Horror Show: Soul of Roses features a story and gameplay experience that flows between life and death. Players get to interact and inherit the abilities of the souls they come into contact with.
Supernatural horror show
Gregory Horror Show: Soul of Roses takes place in the Gregory House, a supernatural place where the souls of the deceased come, clinging to their former worldly life. When a battle with zombies breaks out, one of its undead awakens in the house with no memories. You're offered a contract by the housekeeper, Gregory, to help restore peace in exchange for a way to regain what you've lost.
You spring into battle equipped with a mysterious device called the Soul Taker. With it, you are able to consume the souls of the enemies you defeat and it lets you transform into a soul style that reflects their abilities. There are dozens of souls that roam in and out of the Gregory House for you to take powers from and use as your own.
What's more, you can level up core stats to upgrade things like critical hit chance, max HP, and attack damage, all of which persist across all classes. Now, the only thing to note before getting started is that Gregory Horror Show: Soul of Roses is still in Early Access. As such, development is ongoing and the game is not complete yet.
A fun and charming tribute
All in all, if you were a fan of the cult show of the same name—if you know, you know—the Gregory Horror Show: Soul of Roses is a charming video game tribute that put the limelight back to the classic series. It's pretty fun in itself, but fans will get an extra kick out of seeing familiar faces once again. Newcomer or returning fan, this is worth checking out.
